KAELYN'S 8th BIRTHDAY
JUNE 18th, 2009
It was a dark and cloudy day when we awoke Thursday morning.
There was a lot planned for the day......but we were determined not to let the cloudy skies damper our spirits. Mexican Day for the Grade 2's, Hike and Campfire for the Grade 1's and Kaelyn's POOL Party to top it all off.
Most of the day it rained.....
it was no wonder......
....the grade 2 class had made rain sticks for Mexican Day
and they kept shaking them all day....
The grade 1 class wasn't able to go for a hike or have roasted marshmellows.....but all they needed to have fun was a shelter, a hotdog, puddles, mud, games and their friends and the rain didn't bother them!
So by the time school was out,
the mexicans and the hikers
had used up all the rain
and it was clear skies (almost)
for the birthday girl.
I don't think the rain would have stopped these girls from having fun either but it was nice for the "supervisers" who didn't have to pretend we were having fun getting wet in the rain!
It didn't take long for the girls to put on their suits and head for the water.
They all loved the water and had fun doing all sorts of dives, jumps and cannon balls.

And of course there is nothing better than taking a break
from the pool and relaxing in the hot tub.
And at Grandma's house, going in the hot tub AUTOMATICALLY qualifies you for a popsicle and.....
a chance to change your tongue color!

Who knew that when pool noodles were invented
they would be able to occupy giggling girls for hours upon hours!
I was able to convince the girls to come out of the pool and have a bit to eat.....
After all that swimming the girls were hungry and did enjoy their hamburgers!
Mommy and Daddy couldn't afford any gifts
Fortunately there were lots of fun gifts to open!
I was able to convince the girls to come out of the pool and have a bit to eat.....
I had to first bribe them with some sparkling punch topped with
icecream, cherries and an umbrella.
After all that swimming the girls were hungry and did enjoy their hamburgers!
Ok, time for the party girl to start acting silly!
It must be time to open PRESENTS!
Mommy and Daddy couldn't afford any gifts
because they spent a fortune on Kaelyn's new glasses ;)
Fortunately there were lots of fun gifts to open!

The nice part about gifts is that they keep busy with them for awhile.
So while the garbage was being cleaned up the girls were off to play!
Wow....who knew my daughter would be singing the same skipping songs as I did...Grandma and Nana knew all the tunes and were great rope turners!
And of course after all that skipping it must be time for BIRTHDAY CAKE!
We thank God for blessing Kaelyn with another healthy year, for adorable friends, for loving family, for smiles and giggles.....and for getting all the girls home, safe and sound.....
and just in time for bed!!
(They were so tired that 2 of them fell asleep on the way home....mind you it was 10:00 before the last one was dropped off.....good thing the next day was their last day of school).
